Negotiating and Managing Conflict

Negotiating and managing conflict was something that I dreaded doing. I would avoid it like the plague. However, in both my role as an LC and as a manager of Victoria’s Secret, I learned that these are important aspects of keeping the peace. ThrougIMG_7134h countless trainings and dealings in negotiation and mediation, I have become stronger and more experienced in this aspect.

Furthermore, as a conflict analysis and resolution minor, my studies have taught me the importance of mediation, negotiation, and managing conflict. This is so the conflict doesn’t get out of hand and you can catch it before it grows into something that hinders the team from progressing.

Because I like to keep a harmonious space, my first instinct in conflict is to confront it and catch it before it turns into something bigger. I normally analyze the conflict, look at the “why” of the situation, and come up with a solution that helps the greater good. My core values also help me to be better at negotiating and managing conflict. I am naturally a happy and chipper person, and I want everyone to be as happy as I am. I can usually sense when members of my team are having a bad day, and try to be there for them as much as possible.

My experience at the LEAD office has helped me learn to work with different personalities, and has heightened my conflict resolution skills. We all mesh really well together, and feed off of each other’s energy. Which helps us create a fun, stress-free work environment.
